A Granada farmer has taken to use jabali (wild boar) to control his flock of sheep.!

Who would ever think of using a boar to control your herd in the hills?

Well a Granada shepherd has binned the dogs and geese and settled with a pig to control his flock.

Local farmer Antonio Olvera from Polícar,found the young female wild boar on the outside of the village on a dusty track. Luisa, is what he named her, had been abandoned by her mother and was close to dying when Antonio found her. Kind-hearted Antonio nursed her back to health and, becoming more of a tame boar, she found herself in the Olvera family.

“She soon picked up shepherding skills. Luisa controls the animals with oinks. I have never seen anything like it,” said Antonio, whose flock grazes in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada National Park.
